The Cruising Sailor Fish Kit consists of 2 parts.
The first is a hand line trolled behind the boat. It is 50 ft of 1/8 inch 300# tuna cord with a heavy duty shock cord and a 500# test snap swivel on the end. The hand line comes with a vented storage pouch.
The second is a selection of 6 Sevenstrand Tuna Clone trolling lures. The lures are fully rigged with 6ft of 135# wire leader, barrel swivels and Mustad double tuna hooks. The lures come stowed in a 6 pak bag for easy storage.

Fishing from your Sailboat
Fishing from your sailboat is a no-brainer. Our hand line and lures are designed to catch fish at between 4 and 8 knots. Since this the speed of most cruising yachts go you are at trolling speed all day!
Simply tie the end of the hand line near the shock cord to a cleat and snap a pre-rigged lure in the super strong snap on the other end of the line and drag the line behind the boat.
If you see anything floating in the water, kelp or any flotsam, take a pass by it with the lure, this is a natural place for fish to congregate. Also if you see birds diving into the water or flying in circles in one place that is a good place to troll through. The birds are there because game fish are chasing baitfish to the surface and the birds can catch them and you can catch the game fish. So keep your eyes out for birds. A lone frigate bird circling one area is a sure sign of fish below.
Don’t forget a pair of gloves to pull in the hand line and a good filet knife to help prepare your catch!
